Many girls have been influenced by models and other famous women like Lindsay Lohan and Victoria Beckham who have become deathly thin due to eating disorders. Young teenagers have been starving themselves in hope of looking good, when in actual fact they look ill and un-healthy.
The Fashion industry, in particular, promotes the idea that being stick thin is a good idea. Lots of celebrities have also gone along with the size zero ambition, but it also seems that they have been taking class A drugs such as Heroin and Cocaine to aid their sudden weight loss.

Nicole Richie suffered from extreme anorexia and bulimia last summer. She denied some of the early claims even though her ‘Problem’ was clearly publicised in the media. However, she has recently become pregnant with Joel Madden’s baby, and is now looking healthy.
Kate Moss is still one of the most high profile models; even after all the things she has done in the past like doing drugs and continuous all-night parties. She is infamous for starting the craze ‘Heroin Chic’. Although Kate Moss isn’t a victim of anorexia is still incredibly thin and gaunt looking. Girls aspire to be like her and unfortunately this can lead to eating disorders.
There are various websites that are a shocking to read as they encourage the illness and give advice on how to achieve this ‘goal’. For example http://www.facetheissue.com/community/showthread.php?t=16710 shows a story of a 13 year old girl who wanted help on becoming anorexic. You may think this is a stupid use of a forum but, as you can imagine, they shock young people into sense and they soon realise what is to come of an anorexic’s life.
On the other hand, if you were unfortunate enough to live the ordeal there are also a range of websites to help you through the recovery process. Such as http://www.prioryhealthcare.com/eatingdisorders/
But the NHS has funded a series of clinics around Great Britain to rehabilitate eating disorder sufferers and their families. You can be referred to these clinics by your GP or family doctor and will be assessed before entry.
